Hypergryph pushed Arknights: Endfield's Version 1.5 update live on September 2, and it's the biggest content drop the open-world spin-off has had since launch. Titled Dreamscape of Wind and Snow, the update buries a new corner of Talos-II under snowfall, adds a fresh operator pulled straight from the original Arknights roster, and kicks off a two-phase event calendar that runs through the end of the month.
What's new in Version 1.5
The headline addition is Snowy Forest, a new map region outside Yinglung Pass where an enchanted fog traps travelers in looping paths. It's the setting for the update's main story beat: Typhoeus, an icefield huntress imported from the original Arknights and known for her fascination with Sami legend, joins the Endministrator and Chief Engineer Andre to find a way out — and to face down the region's new boss encounter, Gloomwald's Rage.
A second operator, Purrchena, arrives free of charge during the update's second phase on September 24, tied to the "Purry Big Feline! RAWR!" event. The Echoes of War mode also picks up two new seasons across the update window — Virtuality launched alongside the patch on September 2, and Illusion follows on September 24.
Rounding things out, the Umbral Monument challenge mode is getting a new high-difficulty encounter, Marked by Dark Shadows, penciled in for October 5. That gives Endfield roughly a month of staggered content — new zone, new free operator, two event seasons, and a fresh endgame challenge — without a single dead week on the calendar.
Why it matters for players
Endfield's pitch has always been operator-driven storytelling wrapped around open-world exploration and factory-style base building, and 1.5 leans hard into the storytelling half. Bringing over a recognizable face like Typhoeus from the original game is a deliberate nod to the established fanbase, while a free operator in Purrchena softens the blow for players not planning to pull on the region's paid banners.
The staggered rollout — new zone and character now, free operator and second event season later this month, harder endgame content in October — also signals how Hypergryph intends to pace content going forward: less about single mega-patches, more about keeping something new on the calendar every couple of weeks.
Quick rundown of what's arriving and when:
- September 2 — Version 1.5 live: Snowy Forest region, Typhoeus joins the roster, Echoes of War: Virtuality season begins.
- September 24 — Phase 2 opens: free operator Purrchena via the "Purry Big Feline! RAWR!" event, Echoes of War: Illusion season begins.
- October 5 — Umbral Monument adds the Marked by Dark Shadows high-difficulty challenge.
For a game still finding its footing barely a year after launch, that's a fairly aggressive cadence. Whether the base-building and automation systems can keep pace with the narrative content is the open question — but for now, Talos-II just got a lot colder, and a lot busier.
Endfield's next real test comes in October, when Marked by Dark Shadows gives dedicated players their first proper look at how far the endgame difficulty curve is willing to go.
